Foraging for Wild Teas & Drinks

Foraging is the act of finding and gathering wild foods. For the majority of our existence on this planet, human beings lived as hunter-gatherers. By engaging in this age-old practice, we can provide ourselves with healthy and FREE food and medicine, become more self-reliant, and connect on a much deeper level to the landscape in which we live. Join us each month as we see what the edges of the farm have to offer.

We can make teas and other delicious drinks from wild spaces for all occasions, from medicinal teas to target specific ailments, to teas for taste, relaxation, or just to provide additional minerals and nutrients in our diet. We'll focus on what we can identify and harvest for this purpose and end the class with a sample of wild-harvested tea. Beginners and experienced foragers are welcome. Be prepared to walk, often at times on muddy or uneven surfaces. Dress for the weather and season! We meet at the pole barn.

A note on Covid-19 procedures:

As York County has moved into the Green Phase, we are returning to in-person classes with some modifications to keep them as safe as possible. Classes will be held outside and are limited to 10 participants per class. If more than one class occurs on the same day, start times will be staggered to reduce the number of individuals arriving at the same time. Multiple hand sanitizer stations are available. We will adjust as needed as time passes and things change. Participant expectations are as follows:

  • Participants are required to bring a mask and wear when proper social distancing cannot be maintained. We have a limited supply on hand if you forget yours.

  • Social distancing of 6 feet must be maintained except in case of family members.

  • Do not attend if sick or recovering.
