Nutritional Detoxification & Herbal Alteratives

Modern life exposes us to a plethora of environmental pollutants on a daily basis. These toxins can burden our systems and can present as a multitude of symptoms and health challenges. However many of the modern popular approaches to detoxification are ineffective, hard on the body, and in some cases unsafe. Learn how to support your body’s own natural detoxification processes through food and herbs and how to shift your lifestyle for sustained health. We will cover basic physiology of human detoxification with a focus on the liver, the pitfalls of popular detox fads, traditional western herbal approach to toxic overload, and scientifically-backed nutritional strategies.

About the Instructor

Calyx is a certified clinical herbalist and nutritionist, field botanist, wildcrafter, activist, writer, and mother of two. She was born and raised in the mountains of central Pennsylvania. She sees the human body as an ecological microcosm, and that by reconnecting to the land we can heal the land as well as ourselves. In her practice, she integrates the long, rich history of traditional herbalism with modern scientifically sound research. The Horn Farm Center is offering on-site educational programming with some modifications due to COVID-19. Multiple hand sanitizer stations are available. We will adjust as needed as time passes and things change.

In order to ensure the health and safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff, participant expectations are as follows:

• Masks are required indoors regardless of vaccination status.
• Do not attend if sick or recovering.

*All programs are subject to change based on unforeseen circumstances including inclement weather. Participants will receive an email and phone call if there are any program changes or cancellations.  

*Parking is along the field above the farmhouse. Meet on the farmhouse lawn.
