Foundations of Plant Medicine: Oil Infusions and Salves

Registration is closed for this event

Oil Infusions and Salves

There are many ways to prepare plant medicines so we can use them to heal and support our body systems. A common way is to make an oil infusion, which can then be mixed with beeswax and other things to create a healing salve or balm.

In this course Natasha will discuss plants and herbs that are particularly useful when applied topically, and learn to turn them into oil infusions and simple salves.

Please note, this class will be held in a semi-outdoor space due to COVID-19.  Please dress appropriately for the weather. The class will be held in the Horn Farm Corn Barn, which is an aerated space meant to infiltrate wind for drying corn. Seating and tables will be set up for 6 ft. social distancing and the barn doors will be left open. All participants are required to wear masks in the corn barn.

About the Instructor

Natasha Herr has spent most of her adult life immersed in her love of the natural world. That love has led her on many adventures over the years, from owning an ecological landscaping company, to teaching at a nature based kindergarten, to practicing herbalism, to becoming a published author. Currently she runs Black and Green Press with her husband and fellow writer Kevin Tucker, homeschools two of their four children, takes her doggies for romps in the woods, makes herbal medicine, and writes. One of her most recent professional projects was working for Earthbound Artisan, an ecological earth care company based in Ephrata, PA, as their Operations Manager and Director of Land Management. You can find out more about Natasha and read her work at natashatucker.org.

Health and Safety

Due to COVID-19 the Horn Farm Center is offering on-site educational programming with some modifications in order to ensure the health and safety of our visitors, volunteers and staff. All classes will be held outside and are limited to 10 participants per class. If more than one class occurs on the same day, start times will be staggered to reduce the number of individuals arriving at the same time. Multiple hand sanitizer stations are available. We will adjust as needed as time passes and things change.
Participant expectations are as follows:

  • Participants are required to bring a mask and wear it when proper physical distancing cannot be maintained. We have a limited supply on hand if you forget yours.
  • Physical distancing of 6 feet must be maintained except in case of family members.
  • Do not attend if sick or recovering.
