 nce the earliest days of our human story\, people 
 living in temperate bioregions have looked to fall
  as a time of harvest.</h1>\n \n <p>Lingering frui
 ts and calorie-rich nuts share the landscape with 
 medicinal flowers\, roots\, and bark\, all offerin
 g important sustenance for the impending winter. A
 s the days darken and summer winds down\, it's a t
 ime to cherish the final cadence of the growing se
 ason\; for land-based people\, it's also a serious
  time\, busy with gathering\, curing\, processing\
 , preserving\, and ensuring enough provisions for 
 the lean season. There is no shortage of foods\, m
 edicines\, and other gifts from the land to gather
  humbly and gratefully at this time. </p>\n \n <p>
 Whether you are interested in wild foods\, local p
 lants and ecology\, or alternative uses for plants
  through wildcrafting and medicine\, you're invite
 d to join our <strong>Early Fall Forging Walk</str
 ong>\, taking place <strong>Sunday\, October 4th <
 /strong>from<strong> 10am to 12pm</strong>.</p>\n 
 \n <p>Along the way\, we will spend time paying tr
 ibute to our long shared history with plants\, loo
 king beyond the question of "what can I eat?" on t
 he landscape. We will also emphasize ethical forag
 ing and ways of giving back to the land from which
  we’re taking–reinforcing how thinking like an eco
 system should guide the practice of gathering wild
  foods.</p>\n \n <p><em>Beginners and experienced 
 foragers are welcome. </em></p>\n \n <hr />\n <h1>

 pan></h1>\n \n <h2>Environment: </h2>\n \n <p>This
  class will take place outdoors\, <strong>rain or 
 shine</strong>\, along walking trails in meadow an
 d woodland ecosystems at the Horn Farm. Please che
 ck the weather in advance and dress accordingly.</
 p>\n \n <h2>Accessibility:<strong> </strong></h2>\
 n \n <p>This program will involve walking on uneve
 n\, hilly terrain. Be prepared for varied and pote
 ntially muddy or snowy conditions. Walking pace is
  leisurely with frequent stops for discussion. </p
 >\n \n <h2>Arrival: </h2>\n \n <p>Parking takes pl
 ace in the field above the farmhouse. <em>Plan to 
 arrive 10 minutes early so we can begin the class 
 on time. </em>More details about parking will be c
 ommunicated in a reminder email days before the pr
 ogram. </p>\n \n <h2>Audience: </h2>\n \n <p>While
  this class is suited for adult learning\, <strong
 >children are welcome and encouraged to attend</st
 rong>. Any child above 13 must be registered separ
 ately. Children 12 and younger may attend without 
 charge\, but must be accompanied by a registering 
 adult.</p>\n \n <h2>Cost: </h2>\n \n <p>The standa
 rd cost for this program is $25/person. Sliding sc
 ale options are available to support accessibility

 p>Service animals\, active and in-training\, are p
 ermitted. All other animals and pets must remain a
 t home. The Horn Farm is a working farm with sensi
 tive restoration areas\, so we only allow animals

 d foods enthusiast and educator\, avid gardener\, 
 former farmer\, and has served the Horn Farm Cente
 r in varying capacities for over 15 years. He curr
 ently serves as Farm and Agroforestry Manager. Jon
 athan received his Permaculture Design Certificati
 on in 2011 from Susquehanna Permaculture and in 20
 14 completed his Permaculture Teacher Training thr
 ough Dynamic Ecological Design. He is married with
