 ed mushrooms into homemade medicine.</h1>\n \n <p>
 This program will dig deep into two common local f
 ungi renowned for their medicinal properties: <str
 ong>hemlock varnish shelf</strong>\, AKA reishi (<
 em>Ganoderma tsugae</em>) and <strong>turkey tail<
 /strong> (<em>Trametes versicolor</em>).  </p>\n \
 n <p>Forager and mycophotographer Sarah LeTourneau
  will begin with a presentation on mushroom foragi
 ng\, covering safety and identification\, habitat\
 , processing\, and the remarkable health benefits 
 of these widespread wild mushrooms. </p>\n \n <p>F
 ollowing the presentation\, participants will lear
 n how to turn mushrooms into medicine with a hands
 -on tincture-making workshop. Locally-gathered rei
 shi and turkey tail will be used to demonstrate th
 e double-extraction method\, and all participants 
 will craft their own tinctures to keep. </p>\n \n 
 <p>Join us for an afternoon appreciating the incre
 dible gifts of the fungal world! The tips\, concep
 ts\, and medicine-making methods covered in this c
 lass can be applied to other mushrooms\, so partic
 ipants will leave not just with tinctures\, but wi
 th a steady foundation for continued exploration a
 t home. </p>\n \n <p><em>Note: this program is ful
 ly indoors and will not include foraging. The mush
 rooms used for making tinctures will be gathered a

 Plan to arrive 10 minutes early so we can begin ea

 : </strong>We encourage participants to bring any 
 desired materials for notetaking and a refillable 
 water bottle. Refills are available in the farmhou

 mushroom huntress\, Myco-photographer\, citizen sc
 ientist and forager. Born and raised in the Green 
 Mountains of Vermont\, she went on to attend Globa
 l College where she studied in India and Central A
 merica. She got her start working in wilderness ed
 ucation in rural New Mexico and continued to work 
 as an educator and workforce development specialis
 t. She has been a resident of Lancaster county for
  seven years now and has been immersing herself in
  the wild spaces around the region since she arriv
 ed. Her interests in mycology are rooted both in a
  love for healthy ecosystems and in human developm
 ent. She believes that the many uses of fungi offe
 r a more sustainable path into the future.</p>\n \
