 s about the ebbs and flows of the seasons.</h1>\n 
 \n <p>From striking abundance to seasonal stress\,
  we become intimately aware of the vagaries of cli
 mate\, water\, and heat. In this way\, foraging is
  as much a fulfilling activity as it is a humbling
  teacher: asking us to observe\, wait\, tend\, wit
 hhold\, and honor the land as much as we celebrate
  the harvest. </p>\n \n <p>With this important rea
 lity in mind\, we can still find plenty to enjoy a
 nd learn as we reach the height of the warm season
 . Refreshing fruits like sumac drupes and autumn o
 live share the land with nutritious and medicinal 
 berries\, flowers and greens\, often most vibrant 
 in the cooler\, shadier microclimates that provide
  relief from the summer heat. </p>\n \n <p>Whether
  you are interested in wild foods\, local plants a
 nd ecology\, or alternative uses for plants throug
 h wildcrafting and medicine-making\, you're invite
 d to join our <strong>Mid-Summer Forging Walk</str
 ong>\, taking place <strong>Sunday\, August 2nd </
 strong>from <strong>10am to 12pm</strong>.</p>\n \
 n <p>Along the way\, we will spend time paying tri
 bute to our long shared history with plants\, look
 ing beyond the question of "what can I eat?" on th
 e landscape. We will also emphasize ethical foragi
 ng and ways of giving back to the land from which 
 we’re taking–reinforcing how thinking like an ecos
 ystem should guide the practice of gathering wild 
 foods.</p>\n \n <p><em>Beginners and experienced f
 oragers are welcome. </em></p>\n \n <hr />\n <h1><
 span style="line-height:1.38\;">Program Notes:</sp
 an></h1>\n \n <h2>Environment: </h2>\n \n <p>This 
 class will take place outdoors\, <strong>rain or s
 hine</strong>\, along walking trails in meadow and
  woodland ecosystems at the Horn Farm. Please chec
 k the weather in advance and dress accordingly.</p
 >\n \n <h2>Accessibility:<strong> </strong></h2>\n
  \n <p>This program will involve walking on uneven
 \, hilly terrain. Be prepared for varied and poten
 tially muddy or snowy conditions. Walking pace is 
 leisurely with frequent stops for discussion. </p>
 \n \n <h2>Arrival: </h2>\n \n <p>Parking takes pla
 ce in the field above the farmhouse. <em>Plan to a
 rrive 10 minutes early so we can begin the class o
 n time. </em>More details about parking will be co
 mmunicated in a reminder email days before the pro
 gram. </p>\n \n <h2>Audience: </h2>\n \n <p>While 
 this class is suited for adult learning\, <strong>
 children are welcome and encouraged to attend</str
 ong>. Any child above 13 must be registered separa
 tely. Children 12 and younger may attend without c
 harge\, but must be accompanied by a registering a
 dult.</p>\n \n <h2>Cost: </h2>\n \n <p>The standar
 d cost for this program is $25/person. Sliding sca
 le options are available to support accessibility.

 rm is a working farm with active restoration space
 s\, we do not allow dogs in our programs. Thank yo

 ods enthusiast and educator\, avid gardener\, form
 er farmer\, and has served the Horn Farm Center in
  varying capacities for over 15 years. He currentl
 y serves as Farm and Agroforestry Manager. Jonatha
 n received his Permaculture Design Certification i
 n 2011 from Susquehanna Permaculture and in 2014 c
 ompleted his Permaculture Teacher Training through
  Dynamic Ecological Design. He is married with 2 k
