In this interactive session, you'll learn the practical techniques of vegetable lactofermentation but also gain a profound understanding of the vital role played by soil microbes in the process. Explore the intricate connection between soil health, gut health, and overall well-being, as we delve into the symbiotic relationship between beneficial bacteria, our bodies, and the earth itself.

As you roll up your sleeves and dive into the fermentation process, you'll witness firsthand how beneficial bacteria transform humble veggies into tangy, probiotic-rich delights.

Throughout the workshop, you'll experiment with a diverse array of seasonal produce and flavor combinations, unlocking your creativity and expanding your culinary horizons.

We'll provide you with the essential knowledge, tools, and techniques needed for successful fermentation and by the end of the workshop, you'll leave equipped with the knowledge and skills to continue fermenting at home, enriching your meals with a vibrant tapestry of flavors and nutrients.

Mason jars and glass weights
Organic vegetables
Salt
Spices and flavorings
Handouts and recipes


For all classes: please wear closed-toe shoes, tie hair back or wear a hat, and bring an apron if you have one. Space is limited due to the small size of our kitchen, so register today while spots remain! 


About the Instructor:

Tanya Jarrett, MPH, NBC-HWC is a functional nutritional therapist and the owner of Live Fresh LLC and community partner of Firefly Hollow Wellness. Her mission is to reconnect her clients with healing whole foods through an individualized approach, enabling them to feel empowered and in control of their health. She utilizes lab testing to pinpoint root problems and matches clients' biochemistry to food chemistry through a program called Metabolic Balance. Tanya's goal for each client is to eliminate the guesswork from nutrition and food choices, providing sustainable solutions (the word “diet” is not in her vocabulary) and empowering them to make positive lifestyle choices as they work towards optimal health.   She is dedicated to connecting with people in a supportive way, understanding their needs, and providing them with the tools and education necessary to enhance their well-being.  Her comprehensive and empathetic approach to nutrition aims to empower her clients to make lasting changes that lead to optimal health and a more vibrant life.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Tanya loves to travel, give back to the community, stick her toes in the sand of any beach, and spend time cooking and educating others on how to make healthy food taste amazing. Tanya has two wonderful girls and a loving husband, Patrick.

Parking takes place in the field above the farmhouse. 

For safety reasons, this class is not appropriate for children under the age of 10 and minors should be accompanied by an adult.

Fermented foods contain live bacteria and probiotics and should be consumed at your own discretion.
