Community Crew Training Day: August 11, 2024

The Horn Farm Community Crew is a dedicated volunteer program that supports regenerative land stewardship and community engagement at the Horn Farm Center.

Attending at least one (1) training is a required in order to join this program. All training days will cover the same topics, including: the Horn Farm’s mission, vision, and land ethic; land management approaches; beginner plant identification; tools and safety; volunteer program coordination; and team building.

Here's a breakdown of what you can expect from your training day. Schedule is subject to change: 

• 10-10:30am // Welcome and Horn Farm Center overview
• 10:30-11:45am // Tour of grounds and volunteer sites
• 12-12:30pm // Community Crew logistics walk-through
• 12:30-1:15pm // Lunch
• 1:30-3pm // Outdoor volunteering time (activity dependent on weather, group size, etc.) 

Trained volunteers who are interested in attending additional training days (to revisit skills or simply hang out) may sign up as desired.

Waiver/Release

ALL VOLUNTEERS must read and sign the Horn Farm Center's liability waiver and media release form in order to participate in the Community Crew. Forms will be provided for signing in-person on training days.

What to bring:

Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, dress to get dirty, and bring your own water bottle (refills will be available). We have gloves on hand for those who need them, though we ask that participants bring their own gloves. 

We have time set aside for lunch between 12:30 and 1:15pm. Please pack in your own prepared lunch and snacks for the day. A fridge and microwave are available on site.
