Come meet the wild medicinal plants of our region with a clinical herbalist. We will review the essentials of foraging including plant identification, terminology, safety, medicinal and edible uses of plants, and ethical harvest. We will also cover how to process various herbs to prepare them for various medicinal applications, as well as how to store them for future use.

Program Notes:

Environment:
This program will involve walking on uneven, hilly terrain. Please dress appropriately for a variety of weather conditions outdoors and be prepared for off-trail walking.

Supplies:
A pencil and notebook are recommended. 

Audience:
This class is suited for learners of all ages. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult and children 8 and under may attend for free.

Logistics:
Parking takes place in the field above the farmhouse. Plan to arrive 10 minutes early so we can begin the class on time.

About the Instructor:

 


Calyx Liddick is a certified clinical herbalist and nutritionist, field botanist, wildcrafter, activist, writer, and mother of two. She was born and raised in the mountains of central Pennsylvania. She sees the human body as an ecological microcosm, and that by reconnecting to the land we can heal the land as well as ourselves. In her practice, she integrates the long, rich history of traditional herbalism with modern, scientifically sound research.
