Floral Arrangement Fundamentals

A beginner’s floral design workshop with a make-and-take flower arrangement!

Looking to express your creativity in a new way? Want to create a showstopping floral display for your next gathering or simply enjoy your garden blooms in a more intentional, artful way?

In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of floral design so that you can confidently create your own bouquets and arrangements anytime! Instructor Mariel McDonnell, flower farmer and owner of Cozy Cottage Florals, will guide you step-by-step through her process, sharing practical tips along the way.

Together, we will explore:

  • How to harvest flowers and where to purchase quality blooms
  • What makes a good cut flower (and what you might already have growing)
  • How to process and prepare cut flowers for arranging
  • Tips to keep your flowers fresh longer
  • The five elements of floristry design
  • How to create a spiral bouquet (you will make your own in class! )
  • How to create a centerpiece arrangement (you will make this too! )

All materials, including fresh-cut flowers, will be provided. You'll leave with your own handmade arrangement and a vessel to take home, plus the techniques and confidence to continue creating on your own!
