2023 Horn Farm CSA

Registration is closed for this event

Since 2016, the Horn Farm CSA has been providing local community members with weekly boxes of fresh, chemical-free vegetables and fruits.

This year, we are pleased to continue to offer the Horn Farm CSA in partnership with the Kilgore Family Farm, York Fresh Food Farms, Riverbend Farm, and Green Barn Farm. All CSA produce is grown organically.

Through these partnerships we aim to offer the same range and variety of produce items that you have come to enjoy.  Here are a some items we plan to offer:

Spring: lettuces, spinach, kale, swiss chard, spring onions, beets, carrots, herbs

Summer: kale, swiss chard, tomatoes, sweet & hot peppers, beets, summer squash, watermelon, cantaloupe, onions, herbs, and more!

Fall: garlic, beets, turnips, carrots, winter squash (butternut, acorn, spaghetti, ornamental pumpkins), onions, potatoes, pawpaws, sweet potatoes, kale, swiss chard, spinach

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. In the CSA model, members of the community pledge support local farms, with the growers and consumers sharing the risks and benefits of food production. The consumer (shareholder) pays a fee at the beginning of the season in exchange for a regular, weekly share of the harvest. The shareholders benefit from knowing they have a reliable, weekly supply of fresh, seasonal, chemical-free produce. The shareholder also understands that the unpredictability of weather, pest problems, and other factors may result in some crops being bountiful while others may suffer setbacks. The CSA model is a relationship connecting the land, the growers, and consumers thereby putting us in closer touch with each other and the land which sustains us.

Moreso, the Horn Farm CSA helps to support the educational and land stewardship programs at the Horn Farm Center.

The CSA season lasts 20 weeks from June until October. Shares are available for on-farm pick-up on Wednesdays at the Horn Farm from 2:30-6:30 PM.

Fees & Registration:

2023 CSA Cost: $825 Full Share (Weekly Pickup) or $440 Half Share (Biweekly Pickup)

Due to the increased costs of production in recent years, our share costs have increased by 10%. We thank you for your understanding and continued support.

If you are interested in assisting with the CSA in exchange for a discount on your share, please contact Farm Manager, Andrew Horn at farmmanager@hornfarmcenter.org
