Meet Judy Bono – Merchant and Native Gardener
Judy Bono was born on July 31 in Pittsburgh, PA. She attended Baldwin-Wallace College where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
Judy worked for over 20 years for The Pfaltzgraff Co. She built the highly-regarded Pfaltzgraff licensing business with over 50 licenses, establishing Pfaltzgraff as a brand authority for home décor. Product categories included furniture, wall coverings, decorative home, gifts, bedding, bath and a wide range of kitchen and tabletop products. Judy is a merchant and turns trends into successful products. She works with large and small retailers, consulting in product selection and merchandising.
For the past 25 years Judy has been involved in her passion – gardening with native plants. Her 6-acre property in York has been preserved with the York County Farm and Natural Lands Trust. Her woodland garden is filled with more than 200 species of native perennials, trees and shrubs. For the past seven years Judy has been the owner of The Gardener of the Owl Valley – a shop specializing in native plants and featuring unique gifts.
She and her husband Richard have been active at Horn Farm Center since its inception. They are co-founders of the local chapter of Slow Food – Susquehanna Heartland Convivium.
Judy also has many interests and hobbies. She likes traveling, reading, art, nature, knitting, and jewelry making. Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education is blessed that this very successful woman shares so much of her time helping us in every capacity!
