A Season of Learning & Exploration
Like autumn leaves, Horn Farm Center’s classes come in all shapes, sizes, and colors! This October showcased the rich diversity of our educational ecosystem—from handcrafts and botanical arts to foraging and agroforestry—all rooted in connecting people with the land and cultivating regenerative ways of living.
Check out the photos above for a glimpse of this vibrant month of learning!
Thanks to new partners like Leah Robb, Diane Podolsky, and earthencolor, participants explored the beauty of plants through botanical crafts and natural dyes. We created permanent art from pressed flowers, stunning prints from seeds, leaves, and fruits, and eye-catching colors from goldenrod and black walnuts.
We also ventured into the fungal realm with Sarah LeTourneau and Dark Hollow Biodynamic for a hands-on mushroom workshop focused on foraging, cooking and cultivation.
The month culminated with a visit from agroforestry expert Dave Jacke, who shared powerful lessons on coppicing and its role in resilient, tree-based agriculture.

Water Skills in the Wild
Learn to find, filter, and purify water using both modern tools and primitive techniques in the first session of Elements of Survival: Water on Saturday, November 8th from 1-4pm.
During this hands-on class, we will explore water skills for outdoor survival: build our own water filter, craft a solar still, and practice essential skills like boiling, using aqua tabs, and collecting water from nature.
Take home your own water-purification projects—and the confidence to secure safe drinking water in nearly any environment! Led by Kaden Stetler of Stetler Survival.
