Horn Farm Center is growing, and we’re looking for passionate community leaders to help guide our next chapter. If you believe in regenerative agriculture, environmental stewardship, and expanding access to hands-on education, we invite you to explore serving on our Board of Directors.
Serving on our board is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of regenerative agriculture, ecological education, and community stewardship in the Lower Susquehanna Riverlands. Our board members are ambassadors, strategic thinkers, and advocates who help ensure the long-term success and sustainability of the organization.
About Horn Farm Center
Horn Farm Center is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to cultivating healthy communities through ecological learning. Through hands-on education, regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, ecological restoration, and community partnership, we inspire people to care for the land and one another.
With the opening of our newly renovated farmhouse and Learning Center, we are entering an exciting new chapter of growth, expanding our educational programming, strengthening partnerships, and welcoming more visitors than ever before.

Who We are Looking For
We seek board members who:
- Believe in and are passionate about our mission.
- Bring diverse perspectives, experiences, and skills.
- Think strategically and collaboratively.
- Are willing to actively engage in governance and organizational leadership.
- Serve as ambassadors for Horn Farm Center within the community.
We welcome candidates from all professional backgrounds. Experience in nonprofit governance is helpful but not required.

Board Member Expectations
Board members are expected to:
- Attend regular board meetings (typically monthly).
- Participate on at least one committee.
- Prepare for meetings by reviewing materials in advance.
- Support fundraising efforts through personal giving and outreach.
- Serve as an advocate for Horn Farm Center.
- Contribute professional expertise when appropriate.
- Uphold fiduciary responsibilities and maintain confidentiality.
Time Commitment
Typical annual commitments include:
- Monthly board meetings
- Committee meetings (some monthly, others as needed)
- Strategic planning sessions
- Volunteer opportunities and special events
- Occasional donor cultivation and community outreach
Most board members dedicate approximately 4–10 hours per month.
The Recruitment Process
Our recruitment process is designed to help both you and Horn Farm Center determine whether board service is a good mutual fit.
- Submit a Board Member Interest Application.
- Meet with members of the Nominating Committee for an informal conversation.
- Participate in a tour of the Horn Farm (not required but welcome if you’re interested).
- The Nominating Committee makes a recommendation to the Board of Directors.
- Board members vote on new appointments in the fall.
- New board members start in January.
