Frequently Asked Questions – Summer Solstice Market

Summer Solstice Market FAQ

What is the Summer Solstice Market?

Launched in 2025, the Summer Solstice Market celebrates the beginning of summer with local abundance and land-based learning!

The Horn Farm Center is rooted in the Susquehanna Riverlands: a place with rich agricultural and ecological resources. The Market highlights these resources by offering fresh, organic produce and plant starts grown by students in the Horn Farm’s Regenerative Grower Training Program. Regional partners and budinesses will provide a variety of other sustainable goods. Expect a mix of wild and farm-grown foods, plant plugs for summer gardening, and new offerings gathered from the Horn Farm’s agroforestry systems, like weaving willow.

What’s going on at the market?

Horn Farm Center will sell produce grown by our staff and Regenerative Grower Training Program participants. Proceeds from the Horn Farm stand will support local, regenerative farming practices and the educational programming of the Horn Farm Center. We will also have an info booth where you can learn about upcoming classes at the farm, and browse HFC merch.

Other sustainability-minded local growers and producers will be joining us at this event! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with and support small businesses in our local ecosystem.

Free tours may also be offered. More info coming soon!

Are tickets required to attend the Summer Solstice Market?

No, there is no ticketed entry – this is a free event!

Is this event wheelchair accessible?

The Horn Farm is a working farm with variable accessibility. Accessible parking will be available at the event. However, many surfaces on site are grass, gravel, unpaved, uneven, and can present difficulty to those with limited mobility. Please plan accordingly.

What are the restroom facilities?

Visitors can find two composting toilet units next to the farmhouse. Look for the small red building between the farmhouse and the community gardens.

Is this a family-friendly event?

Yes! Feel free to bring the whole family.

Sustainable activities suitable for children (and youthful adults!) will be offered, including take-and-make flower crowns and pot-a-plant.

Are dogs allowed at the event?

We encourage you to leave your furry friend/s at home, but service animals are welcome. Because we are a working farm, we need to prioritize the health and safety of the plants we’re growing. No dogs will be permitted in the demo field – on tours or otherwise. We appreciate your consideration!

Can I bring my own food and drink?

Stay tuned for info on prepared food vendors. We also welcome you to bring your own food and drink if you wish – please plan to BYO plates, cups, and utensils if you opt to bring your own food. We encourage everyone to hang out enjoy a picnic-style lunch on the grounds.
