Summer Solstice Market FAQ
What is the Summer Solstice Market?
Launched in 2025, the Summer Solstice Market celebrates the beginning of summer with local abundance and land-based learning!
The Horn Farm Center is rooted in the Susquehanna Riverlands: a place with rich agricultural and ecological resources. The Market highlights these resources by offering fresh, organic produce and plant starts grown by students in the Horn Farm’s Regenerative Grower Training Program. Regional partners and businesses will provide a variety of other sustainable goods and prepared food. Expect a mix of wild and farm-grown harvests, plant plugs for summer gardening, plus free and seasonally-inspired activities for families.
What’s going on at the market?
Horn Farm Center will sell produce grown by our staff and Regenerative Grower Training Program participants. Proceeds from the Horn Farm stand will support local, regenerative farming practices and the educational programming of the Horn Farm Center. We will also have an info booth where you can learn about upcoming classes at the farm, and browse HFC merch.
Other sustainability-minded local growers and makers will be joining us at this event! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with and support small businesses in our local ecosystem.
We’ll host one free tour of the Horn Farm’s demonstration field and restoration spaces at 1PM. No pre-registration required.
Are tickets required to attend the Summer Solstice Market?
No, there is no ticketed entry – this is a free event!
Is this event wheelchair accessible?
The Horn Farm is a working farm with variable accessibility. Accessible parking will be available at the event. However, many surfaces on site are grass, gravel, unpaved, uneven, and can present difficulty to those with limited mobility. Please plan accordingly.
What are the restroom facilities?
Visitors can find two composting toilet units next to the farmhouse. Look for the small red building between the farmhouse and the community gardens. An indoor restroom will also be open inside the farmhouse.
Is this a family-friendly event?
Yes! Feel free to bring the whole family.
Sustainable activities suitable for children (and youthful adults!) will be offered, including take-and-make flower crowns and pot-a-plant.
Are dogs allowed at the event?
We encourage you to leave your furry friend/s at home, but service animals, active and in-training, are welcome. Because we are a working farm, we need to prioritize the health and safety of the plants we’re growing. No dogs will be permitted in the demo field – on tours or otherwise. We appreciate your consideration!
Can I bring my own food and drink?
Stay tuned for info on prepared food vendors. We welcome you to bring your own food and drink if you wish, though prepared food will be offered by Locally Seasoned. If you would like to picnic, please BYO plates, cups, and utensils. A wash station is available.
What is your alcohol policy?
The consumption of alcoholic beverages or illegal substances is not permitted at the event. The Summer Solstice Market is a family-friendly event. Anyone consuming alcohol or illegal substances will be asked to leave the premises immediately.
