Hellam Township Environmental Advisory Council and Kreutz Creek Library are proud to present local author Anthony Fredericks, who will talk about his book “In Search of the Old Ones”, a journey across the United States to uncover the remarkable secrets and lives of ancient trees. This free program is part of “Its All About Trees,” a free family-friendly event at the Kreutz Creek Library.


YOUTH PROGRAM: Weird Fish & Fishing Weirs

Suitable for ages 5-12. Discover the wild and wacky fish that call the Susquehanna River home, then create your own fish print to take home! Learn how Native Americans used clever stone structures called fishing weirs to catch fish for their communities.

Celebrate the rich edible landscape of the Lower Susquehanna with Liza Naylor of Locally Seasoned and Judy and Dick Bono-founders of the Pawpaw Festival-in this special cooking demonstration featuring pawpaws and other native ingredients. All attendees will receive a copy of Judy’s Pawpaw Recipes cookbook!

Guided Hike: Ferns & Falls

Mill Creek Falls Nature Preserve is home to unique microclimates that support ecosystems different from the surrounding area. This hike will explore the magical area along Mill Creek that includes multiple short waterfalls as well as ferns and rhododendrons that take advantage of the cool, damp microclimate along the stream.

White Clover Family Farm has some wild & uncommon goods in store for you–including elderberry syrup made with Horn Farm Center elderberries, elderberry goat milk soap made with their goats milk, elderberry scented foaming hand soap, elderberry scented lotion, dried elderberry bath salts, elderberry loose leaf tea, baked goods featuring local fruits, and elderberry scented 100% soy candles hand poured on the farm. $1 from every elderberry candle sold will be donated to Horn Farm Center!
