Horn Farm Happenings – August 18

sunflower with barnIt’s a beautiful time to be on the farm! If you can, please visit us on Saturday, August 19th. The morning’s activities include a 1-hour farm tour at 10 am. Meet at the corn barn (small barn). Produce will be available from at our Farm Stand until noon. Children’s activities with Kreutz Creek Library include a story time and craft, a scavenger hunt, and then Music and Movement with Mark DeRose at 11 am. Admission is free.

In preparation for a volunteer work day next week with some of Franklin and Marshall College’s incoming freshmen, Wilson Alvarez along with Farm Intern Miranda spent time today building the first of which will be a series of cascading small pools in the stream. Volunteers next week will be bundling branches of the overly abundant privet to be used to bolster the eroded stream banks against further erosion, building more pools, and clearing more of the stream and trail. If you or your organization are interested in joining us for this big, important project, please let us know!Wilson in the first pool
