Miranda‘s hard work on the herb garden has paid off and this week will be the first week for cut your own herbs.  The herb garden is located in the field just behind the corn barn, where CSA pickup at the farm is located. There will be instructions and signs directing you on where to go and which herbs are ready for cutting.  If you pickup at the farm you can snip some extra herbs when you pickup your share, for folks who pickup at Seventh and George are welcome to come out to the farm and pick some herbs.  Here are a few of the herbs that will be available:

Parsley

Rosemary

Oregano

Thyme

Sage

Lavendar

Basil

Lovage

Cilantro

Lemongrass

Meet Your Farmer – John Deslippe

“John proves that working hard is more fun with really cool hair.” – Alyson Earl, Executive Director

John Deslippe is the Horn Farm’s youngest intern at just 17. John is a Lancaster City native and this is his first year interning at the farm. John was originally interested in WWOOFing but since he wasn’t old enough yet, he applied to intern at the Farm. “I like being outdoors and working with my hands,” he says. In addition to his internship, John works at Steel Peel Pizza in Lancaster. He also plays the stand up bass and likes jazz music.
