Horn Farm Happenings – July 26, 2019

toad in handWe’re excited to offer a family-friendly event called The Living Landscape!

Come learn about the land through the lens of the species that inhabit wild spaces! The Horn Farm Center will offer monthly sessions beginning Saturday, August 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on The Living Landscape—an all-ages class.

On the first Saturday of each month, this ecological adventure walk through the woodlands and the meadows of the Horn Farm Center will spark a sense of wonder and reveal the mysteries of the land we call home. We’ll explore broad patterns of the landscape and dive deep into the details of the micro-ecosystems under rocks, inside dead trees, beneath the soil, and beyond.

Topics covered may include: tracking animals and insects; identifying wild plants, trees, and tree bark; discovering macro-invertebrates; analyzing soil; reading the landscape; observing nature; deciphering bird languages; studying topography; understanding water flows; and honing primitive skills.

Come prepared for all weather and conditions, including the heat, mud, and water. This class is family- and child-friendly, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Register today at The Living Landscape.
