One month from today, our next cohort of Woodland Stewards will begin their training on the farm! This program is designed for anyone who wants to learn practical skills in woodland restoration and maintenance, to gain an understanding of ecological succession, and to develop the knowledge and skills to implement regenerative land management practices.
Do you want to learn to transform degraded woodlands into healthy, biodiverse, productive habitats by using hands-on, ecologically sound techniques? This part-time program is designed to be useful to the professional and the layperson, to landowners and land stewards, activists, naturalists, and outdoor enthusiasts. No previous experience required. We have one space left in our Fall/Winter session which runs from October 14, 2019 to April 13, 2020. Find out more about the Woodland Steward Training Program.
We can expedite environmental restoration by increasing variability in forest structure and habitats. By understanding our role as stewards of the land, and by using techniques based on the behavior of animals that used to inhabit this area, we can expedite increases in biodiversity and the carrying capacity of our semi-wild lands. By restoring our relationship with the land, we can remember the true meaning of what it is to be human–that we are a part of nature, not outside of it. Every week: Farm Stand – Tuesdays 1 to 7 and Saturday 9 to noon at the farm and the Online Farm Stand – pre-order vegetables and flowers for pick up at the farm on Tuesday afternoon.
